| Anne Moniz Chung, Watercolour Artist
I grew up on a farm in Mississauga, Ontario. I attended the Applewood Heights Secondary School. At that time there were beautiful apple orchards, and cows and sheep could be seen grazing in the vast green pastures. One day at our farm on RR#1, which is now named Eglinton Avenue, a gentleman named Reid came by. He asked for permission to paint our garage, (once a stable for a horse and a carriage) with his watercolor paints, he painted a door that was hung precariously on its hinges. I was intrigued by his style and panache. It was momentous love, water color that is. Since then, I have enjoyed many other mediums such as acrylic, pastels, mixed media I find that watercolor is the most complex medium, it takes on a life of its own. It has both transparent and opaque qualities. It has movement. It can attract and repel pigments. Most of all, it challenges the artist to think before he even puts brush to paper, on which approach to use to catch the essence of light. Life has taken me to many crossroads. I have worn many hats and made many sacrifices. Presently, I am a florist operating in Mississauga. At a dare from a friend Mr. Lind, I took up watercolor classes at My name is Anne Moniz Chung.
